| 1. Take preferred names and all nicknames. Yell each one loudly in a public place. If you're embarassed, reconsider.2. Get a small child to try to pronounce it. If they can't, reconsider.3. Ask at least three people with nothing to gain or lose what they think. If they say they don't like it, they aren't hating or jealous. I'd bet money that it's because it sounds ridiculous. 4. If you have multiples, don't name them names that a. rhymeb. differ by one letterc. begin with the same letterPeople outside the family are definitely going to make them a box set automatically. They don't need that crap from Mom and Dad too. They're future adults, not teacup chihuahuas."Are you a pirate?" - Only on weekends."This is for?" - I knew you unique name people were stupid, but damn.

| I do believe you had just answered your own question and it's a good answer, too!Too bad there isn't a guide to unusual, and I might add weird names out there. Or is there? Yes, some parents just do not think the seriousness of a name in naming their child and what all that child will go through having such a name stuck on them. They did a survey some years ago on either 20/20 or Dateline about names and interviewed the students and teachers, and many of the teachers indicated that if there was a name they didn't like, then they ended up not liking the student and would give him or her a bad grade. I believe it! "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me!" That's crap! You don't get hit every waking moment of your life with sticks and stones, but a name you do, and it will haunt you forever. When it's ugly and silly and stupid and ridiculous you are automatically branded, and with that comes the horrific name calling and nicknames and all the other hurt tossed your way. A name means everything. It's you. That's your identification, your being, your own self with your very own name. Parents, wake up and face reality here. Bad names hurt! Thanks for addressing. It needed to be said. Now let's hope this be a wakeup call for those who still desire to name their unborn babies "Apple" and "Pear."

| 5. Don't take a common name and change the spelling to make it a "unique" name. It is still the same boring name, only you just made life more difficult for your child for everytime they will have to spell out their name for people!
