Krste Petkov Misirkov (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krste_Misirkov ) was a philologist and publicist, mostly known for his work "On the Macedonian Matters". His writings are central to the issue of the existence, or not, of a Macedonian nation distinct from the Bulgarian nation. Here are just a couple of quotes of his book:

“Some will ask why I speak of breaking away from the Bulgarians when in the past we have even called ourselves Bulgarians.”

“And, anyway, what sort of new Macedonian nation can this be when we and our fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers have always been called Bulgarians?”

Why citizens of FYROM deny their Bulgarian origin while at the same time they try to convince the world that they are Macedonians, therefore Greeks?
