Why is a beer a good way to kill a hangover?

I always go drinking and the next day have hangovers and my friends always tells me to drink a glass of beer. I hate the taste of beer and it was never my cup of tea. I am just wondering why?

supposedly drinking more alcohol when you have ahangover cures your hangover. It doesnt cure it it just makes you drunk again! I cannot drink more alcohol if I have a hangover, well done to you if you can!

It will "cure" a hangover briefly. When you have a hangover, your liver is breaking down the alcohol and produces a chemical by product that makes you feel rough. Taking on board more alcohol stops this process and will make you feel better temporarily. The hangover will only be in the post however and will catch up with you later on. It's really bad for your liver as well and people who do this in the morning have an alcohol problem!

Its called "Hair of the Dog" and its generally people who drink way too much the night before. If you are not a heavy drinker and stick to one liquor you may not get hangovers and there would be no reason to need a beer the next day. Stick with a good nights sleep and have a non-alcoholic drink for every drink of alcohol you have and make sure you have eaten properly so your body can absorb the alcohol .
