should the black fibres in mushroom eliminated for cooking?

I bought unwashed mushrooms and just before cooking it struck me whether the black fibres under the bud must be cleaned completely. but i was lazy to remove for so many mushrooms so i just tossed them in the pan.any harm ?one more question- is mushroom a vegan dish?

No harm done at all. Those "black fibers" under the cap are the gills of the mushroom. They are supposed to be there.To clean fresh mushrooms, take a damp paper towel and wipe them very carefully, being sure to remove any clumps of dirt that might still be on them. If they are very dirty you can rinse them quickly under water and then wipe them dry but do not soak them in water. Mushrooms are like little sponges. Yes, mushrooms can be part of a vegetarian meal.
