ok...pop, soda, or coke?

Which term do you use to refer to carbonated beverages? I'm from Ohio and I say pop.
i dont understand why people call pop a coke even when you want a dr. pepper or something...coke is a brand!!

When I lived in AZ, everything was a Coke. When I lived in Missouri, everything was a pop, now that I live in Texas, everything is a soda! I'm so confused

I'm from Ohio as well, so I say POP. Although I moved out West and here they say SODA..But I still say POP even being here and I always will. I believe that's the correct way..

I'm from Louisiana and i say coke. i don't know why we say coke when it is not the brand we want. i think that we are comfortable saying it,for what reason i don't know.

Soda, or soda pop in Maryland...coke is a slang for Coca Cola, and only refers to that brand here.

I have lived in Michigan all of my life and being a Michigan girl,we have always said,"pop,"for carbonated beverages! ;-)

From Ohio, too, and here is it called = Pop.

If you ask for a "Coke", then that is what you will get.
( Same as how some people call all brands of refrigerators = "Frigidaire" - LOL )

When my Daughter lived in Florida, I had to ask for - Soda, as they didn't know what Pop was. Or us snowflakes got laughed at - LOL !

Pop is a sound, soda is a carbonated water so I would think that it woulld be cola.
