| I love collecting and using recipies but some of the best contain an ingredient called corn syrup. I have looked in all the supermarkets and no body seems to know what it is ( i only have a vague idea of what it is) can anyone tell me more about it ? does it have another name in south africa? where can i buy it?aprox what does it cost? is there a substitute for it?

| look either in the baking / spice section of your supermarket.....or, by the pancake syrups. corn syrup is a thick, clear liquid, usually in a clear glass bottle. brand name is usually KARO it is a sugar syrup made from corn, used for cooking and baking ( especially for candy and sweet desserts ) have no clue what it is called in South Africa, as I am in the United States. hope you find what you're looking for
