Things to do // say on a first date?

Ok my friends are hooking me up with on of their friends. The plan is they are coming with him && one of his friends and we're all going to hang out. I've never met him//his friend so I don't know what to talk about. We're all sophmores but only a few of us go to the same school. It's not an official date, it's just so me and him can get to know each other.

1.) what should we do...like places to go?
and
2.) Things I should say? Like what should I ask him? Topics?
