| I failed grade 11 university math with a 48% I have no idea how to tell them. My dad might be okay (he really doesn't care about my grades) but i know my step-mom will freak out. I'm already an outcast in my family and this will just give her another reason to be disappointed in me. Its likely that my teacher will give me the 50% and pass me. But should i still take summer school? I'm not even doing math in my final year of highschool and i have 90's and 80's in EVERYTHING else. I don't know what to do. How do i tell my step-mom without her freaking over one grade?and my teacher calls on Wednesday to tell them if i failed or if she'll give me the 50% should i wait till' then to confront them?

| better for them to find out from you than from someone else. Then by the time your teacher calls they may have had some time to cool off.

| If it was me, I'd take summer school and let your parents know that you have already enrolled. That will show them that you know it is an area that you need to work on and are taking steps to correct it. It will help you later on even if your parents didn't care about it.Your parents should NOT be getting upset if you are doing well in every other area since it's obvious that you are a decent student. They could be concerned but you don't get angry at someone just because they have difficulty learning something.

| ask the teacher if there is anything you can "do" for/to her to raise your grade.

| Tell them up front. And the fact that your step mom cares that much should tell you alot. And when you tell them let them know that you are considering summer school to help make it up. It shows that you are taking responsibilty for your actions.

| Let her freak out. If I were your mom and you withheld that, you better believe there would be major freaking. And YES, take the summer school if you can. Tell them-get it over with, brace yourself--and don't ruin your chances for college/university. Don't let ANYTHING stand in your way of college; neither your lack of confidence or your step mom's drama.

| OK, first thing - breathe....Now, have you talked to the teacher and told them what you are having trouble with. A teachers job is to teach and not to fail students. Most teachers do not like to fail students - maybe some help with whatever you do not understand and then re-taking a test or doing some additional work to show that you do now understand what was giving you trouble before. Could your teacher help you talk to the step mom or maybe the counselor at school? Ask for help, you may be surprised what you will find. Good luck!
