| How long after your wedding did you wait to have your name changed?

| If you are having it changed it is at the wedding not after. The license has to be filled out and it will ask what names are being used so technically it is before the wedding but becomes official at the wedding. There is no waiting period to decide after the wedding

| Right away after our honeymoon. kept me from procrastinating. Also, insurance, credit cards, licence, ss card etc. should be the same and they take time so the sooner the better.

| It just depends... I was married over the Memorial Day weekend and had to wait until the following Tuesday because the goverment offices were closed. In Texas under normal circumstances if you don't get married on a Saturday or Sunday you can change your last name immediatly.

| The easiest way, is to do it when you get the wedding license. ..and contrary to popular belief you do not have to change your name for religious or legal reasons. Mortgages, bank accounts, mutual funds, are absolutely unaffected by the name change, or lack thereof.God bless your union.

| We finished filling out the papers the night of our wedding and had his mom mail them out the following week while we were gone.Once I got back, I started making phone calls to the banks, bills, utilities, etc.

| I started after we got back from our honeymoon. We got married in May and it was July before I had everything switched around (including license plates and tiny things I never thought of).I think it would benefit you the most depending on when you get married. If it's towards the end of the year, don't wait to do it because I had issues with the IRS and I had changed my status to married on my paycheck and my husband hadn't because he said his payroll department said since his name didn't change it didn't matter. Yes it did. It was a pain!

| I am not legally changing mine (with the Social Security Administration or my driver's license/state ID) until after the honeymoon as my passport is in my maiden name and I need the passport and photo ID to match. I will, however, use my new name socially immediately after the wedding. We'll change all the official stuff (bank records, house and car papers, etc.) after the honeymoon. So, if you're going out of the country for your honeymoon, keep this in mind. Otherwise, I'd think you'd want to do it fairly soon after the wedding to avoid confusion.

| I've always used my maiden name as my middle name so the only thing I had to change was the last name when I married the second time. I did that about 6 weeks after the wedding, in order for our marriage certificate to be filed & in the right place. No hassle that way about papers being lost or not on file yet!!! Congrats!!!
