After 25 years of ‘radio silence’ I had a long talk with a childhood buddy last night. He told me about his life. How he’d married a local town girl because they became pregnant … when he was on the ‘rebound’ from another woman. How even though he was an accomplished musician and linguist, he took a blue collar job and stuck it out for decades to meet his responsibilities and live close to her family. How even though he’d been raised in military school and been in the Army, he let himself go and gained 150 lbs. How he and his wife hardly spoke or had sex for years. And, how the day that their last child graduated college he went directly to a lawyer and filed for divorce; which took 30 days. Then, he disappeared with his fishing pole and guitar into the Adirondacks for six months; lost all the weight and came back 20 years younger. He said to me, “I have no regrets because I always did what I believed was the 'right thing' in my own heart."I'm amazed so many fail to see the self-less, noble and sacrificial love in this story. A guy makes a big mistake ... pays for 25 years... and then recovers his 'self'.

Applause, Applause!!!!!! If more would take the responsibility of this situation serious, there would be less children in our court systems. Men think they can have children, then, just up and leave, letting whoever support them. Hurray to your friend!!!!

He's a jerk. He wasted 25 years of this womans life that she will never get back. She deserved to be in a marriage with someone who loved her, not someone who just "did the right thing". She will never get that back. He deserves no respect. Hopefully his children will also see him for what he really is.
