I've been debating about spending so much money on a wedding dress and got desperate enough to search for dresses on ebay. I found a picture of a dress i loved that went for $600 on ebay in my size for $20.
I'am not familiar with buying on ebay, it just seems too good to be true. is this a real good deal? am I misunderstanding? I don't want to miss a great deal but I'd like to make sure its for real...

Just looking on ebay now, there are a lot of dresses listed at low prices, but if you look at their shipping, its in the $150-200 range. That's how they get you. You may only pay $20 for the dress, but you'll spend upwards of $200 on the dress.

As well, they will show the starting bid or bidding price as $20, but underneath it will say "Reserve not met". Some sellers will start the bidding low, but will not sell the dress until it reaches whatever reserve they have (say $500). So it looks like you would win with a low bid, but in fact they will nullify the buy because the reserve was not met.

It doesn't hurt to put a bid in and if you get it for $20, then thats great, but be wary of postage prices/where it is coming from because some people scam the system and put their price extremely low, but then double or triple the postage price so as to make their money back.

With that being said, I have bought many 'amazing' deals from ebay and they turned out to be totally legit. I once bought a gold ring for $200, then took it to the jewellers to get it valued and it was valued at over $1000. Don't forget, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

20 dollars!dude your getting married send a little more like at least 100 buy a dress some where else like a store at the mall you WILL find good deals and bad deals but....im only 12 how should i know (=

Id say with clothing on ebay, 50% is fake. I can get my hands on fake Diesel, Versace, LRG, Penguin, etc... truckloads in 5 days, and sell on ebay.

Look at their reputation. Read through their comments, and especially read the negative comments. They must have high high reputation to be trusted.

Also read on how they have the dress. If its brand new, its quite possibly a fake. If its used, she may just want to get rid of it.

Smart sellers, keep the starting price super low, but they have a reserve price. If the bids dont reach this special reserve price, the highest bidder still doesnt win. She keeps starter price low, to draw attention to it, and get tons of bids coming in, and lots of people keeping an eye on it.

If $20 is the buy it now price, its fake.

Most of the time Ebay is a bidding process. The bidding may start out at $20 but will continue to increase until the bidding ends, just like an auction. You could get lucky or the bidding could end up close to the actual retail price. In which case you would be better off buying from Davids. Make sure it is not used and if it is what condition. Also you can read feedback to see if the seller is reliable. Watch out for things like Davids Bridal
(style) or (like davids bridal) in which they are not originals and you can not be sure of what you are getting. Ebay is a pretty safe place to buy just do your research first. Also go and size yourself first to ensure a good fit. Good Luck and best wishes.
