Its because I might adopt a child from a rich family and a first world country and this might upset her.I will say the child was a present from good ol' pal Jennifer.

Oh yeah, to answer your question, unless the two of you have signed some type of agreement, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to adopt as many children as you can save!!! Since you are in a loving relationship and just had a child together, why would you want to hide it from her. You can adopt one, but I guess the child's coming to live in the house you are both in, so at least do the child a favour and do some damage control before bringing the child home!
