my best guy-friend cancelled his wedding 4 days before...it was disasterous at best- BUT would have been worse had he gone through with a marriage when he'd realized he didn't love her...they (she!!) lost a lot of money on the venue- but, I'll give him credit- it took him a year, but he paid her family back.

My niece just cancelled her wedding. It was a few months before (both wedding invitations and wedding shower invites were already out). Honestly, we were all relieved she cancelled it because most of her family thought she was too young and going through too many changes (graduation, moving, neither one had a job yet, just starting to live together) to do it right then. It is possible they may still go through with it in an year or so when they are both in better places. I think it was a very adult decision and I am proud of her to realize that she was making a move that was going to last a lifetime and she needed to be sure. If your family and friends love you, they will understand that.

Yes, my brother friend. The whole wedding was paid for. The reason the wedding was canceled because she did not want to sign a pre-nup. He had brought it up to her on several occasions.He had lots of money and she didn't ( she wanted to be taken care off ) as far as I know she did not even have to work after the wedding. Either way she called off the wedding about 1 month before. She still hangs around him though.

Yes, My cousin cancled her wedding because she was uncertain for a minute. So she called it off and explained to everyone her feelings of what was going on, she gave herself a few weeks and then rescheduled the wedding two months later.

I attended a wedding that was cancelled 10 minutes before it was to start. The bride realized she was getting married for all the wrong reasons (ill parents etc.) and was rushing into it. She talked to her minister about it and he made the announcement to a full church, the pianist played some soothing music, and everyone was invited to the reception since it was paid for. The bride's family handled it well, the groom's didn't. He didn't attend the reception.
