| ...to win the million dollars? I'm guessing that some sort of skill/general knowledge test is given by "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" to its potential contestants. Now -- there's no doubt that such testing, when given to "Jeopardy" contestants, weeds out the mediocre. But if you look at the EASY questions that "Millionaire" contestants ROUTINELY miss, you have to wonder if the show's producers aren't making **darned** sure that really astute applicants are NOT selected. I'd bet good money that we will NEVER see anyone win the million dollars on the half-hour daytime show."Jeopardy" is loaded to select the brainy. And if "Millionaire" **isn't** loaded to select ONLY the mediocre, and NEVER the brainy, I'll eat my hat, with ketchup, mayo, and a marachino cherry on top. What do YOU think?Food for thought -- NBC used to pay a million dollars **per episode** to EACH of the seven stars on "Friends." And NOW we see its game shows, like "Millionaire," NEVER giving the million to even ONE person. Another example of this is its "Deal or No Deal" show. The only way it'll EVER give away a million dollars is in a game where one or more cases contain MORE than a million dollars. And those shows are extremely rare.WHY has NBC become so obviously **CHINTZY**?To "LadyLynn" -- The nighttime show airs only rarely any more, and I think it's been a long time since it had a million-dollar winner. The nighttime show, when it started, starred Regis Philbin as the host, and was on the ABC network. The daytime show is a half-hour one, airing on NBC (unless it's being syndicated, which is a possibility.) I believe that the nighttime show is always an hour long, and is never a repeat of the daytime show.

| Well 3 or 4 people have won the million in the UK but I don't think they would want to give that much away every week, they probably try to screen out some potential winners.

| I completly agree that Millionaire uses it's screening process to pick the contestants that are not quite smart enough to gaurantee a win, but just smart enough that they may get close by answereing a few lucky questions. I think this may have something to do with the producers thinking they will attract viewers who tune in just to feel superior to the contestants. The "what an idiot, I could have answered that" effect.

| You could be absolutely right. I've been watching the daytime version for about 3 months, and not one winner. Does the nighttime show get a millionaire once in a while? I don't watch it at night. I was wondering if they're different than the daytime shows. I was kinda assuming that they show the same show twice a day. That's double work for Meredith. Is there anything different about the nighttime show? Sorry to answer a question with a question. Thanks.
