Did Michael Bay destroy Transformers?

Ok, so i haven't seen the movie yet...at first when i heard about it I nearly crapped my pants, then i heard the worst news ever...it was being directed by Mr. Pearl Harbor himself Michael F'n Bay. Then i was rather sad and still wanted to see it but didn't expect too much. Then i saw they put flames on Optimus Prime....not freakin cool. So i wanna know from the true Transformers fans and movie buffs, did the guy who make one of the worst tragedies in America a joke do the same thing with the big mechanical guys i love oh so much?

Sadly todays movies have all become about marketing and hype. They have not been true to the transformers of the old days. The flames really pissed me off as well. Also the camaro, they should have kept it as it was instead of changing it to the new one. The film itself was pretty lame, the only reason it is making so much money is that it is SUMMER and there arent any films competing with it right now. Like I said, marketing and hype...

I loved transformers as a kid (22 years ago!) and I'm the biggest sci-fi buff EVER and I think it's the BEST sci-fi movie of ALL time!!!! I was 45 minutes into it and I already wanted to see it again. I'm going to take my daughter to see it next week and I may even go a third time.The only thing I would have done differently is re-cast the silly Sector Seven guy and made the end scene about 5 minutes shorter.I REALLY loved it....It might of had something to do with all the great humor and Peter Cullen's handsome voice saying, "Autobots! Roll out!!"Oh...and that 2009 Camero concept car was rockin'!!

The movie shouldn't even be called Transformers. They are little more than set pieces for most of the movie. Bay put way too much of the focus on the human characters.There was little to no backstory on any of the Transformers, with the exception of Prime's opening monolouge and introduction of the Autobot troops. The Decepticons are criminally under developed, and the only hint that Megatron and Starscream have any friction is a throwaway line near the end of the film.As for the redesigns of the Autobots, I can live with most of them. Bumblebee should have stayed a VW Beetle, but other than that there were no major issues.
