I remember the episode. Joey bid on a boat in the silent auction and won it. Then he couldn't pay for it. I think it was from season 7 or 8.

Her old boyfriend Richard (Tom Selleck) came back and said he would marry her, so now she has something to think about. Phoebe and Joey go with Rachel to a benefit dinner organized by Rachel's boss, and Joey, misunderstanding how a silent auction works, accidentally buys a boat. Rachel tries to sell it to the second highest bidder, and when she's telling the guy how great owning a boat would be, Joey decides he wants all of those things and will keep it.
