What qualifications do I need to become an accredited childminder?

I am looking to become a registered childminder, but I would also like to become accredited. The childminders I know all have a NVQ3 in childcare, but I have helped my friend with hers and it just seems so basic. I have completed year 1 of a 3 year teaching degree, which included a module about the foundation stage and would feel like I'm going backwards if I now went on to do an NVQ3. Anyone know anything more about this.

As far as I am aware there are no 'entry requirements' for this role as such - you just have to be vetted and registered by your Local Authority (council). Contact them for more information.

you dont necesarily need qualifications but you do need to be registered the last time i looked into it you do a short course think its two weeks or somthinglike that your home will be assesed to make sure itis safe and suitable and you will be police checked go to learn direct site to learn more hope this helps and good luck for the future

if this is what you need you will have to complete the training or speak to your course tutor see what she says also you will need to apply for a criminal record bureau check crb to work with children
