what does all hands on deck mean?

i saw this shirt at victoria secret pink that said all hands on deck i just wondering what it ment

it means, all the people on the boat have to get to the deck of the boat, its a nautical thing.

The hands are deck-hands - sailors - who must all go up on deck to help in an emergency.

"Hands" are men, in old sailing ship lingo.

"All hands on deck" means everyone get up on deck to deal with some emergency -- normally only 1/3 of the crew is on duty at any one time.

Well I don't know what the shirt is trying to insinuate but the phrase "all hands on deck" was used by ship crews. It meant all hands available were needed to tie masts, steer, throw water out, release the anchor (all tasks you need hands for?). hands are connected to people therefore all people are needed. I guess hands could have been used rather than "all people" because of different ranks, this was saying anyone and everyone help! But I'm not too sure...

It is a navy term meaning everyone on the ship get on deck (top of the ship) something is going on that they need everyone there to work on.. so get as many hands working on the deck...or an emergency ect. As for the shirt its a play of words...since it is on a female shirt it would mean "all hands (male hands) on deck (on my chest)" Like a girl telling a guy to get to "work" on her in a sexual play way.

Sailors use the term. It means everyone below the deck of your boat. Come up and help or listen to what the captain has to say.
