I need help finding activities to help get a five year old girl ready for school. Things like alphabet activities and writing activities would be great! Even websites with printables would be awesome.

my whole family used the grade books form k-mart and wal-mart. they are great for the kids.

STARFALL.COM!!!!!When I was teaching grades K-3 the kids loved to go on Starfall.com during computer time.. BEST PART= It is greatly educational, especially if you sit them and reinforce what it is helping them learn.Also, get the big lined paper and use highlighter to write names, phone number, address, etc and have him or her write it (trace) and say it. Eventually omit the highlighted portions and work on doing it without. These will be some of the biggest things they will need to know, in addition to colors, shapes, etc. The kids in Kindergarten I taught also loved to play "treasure hunt". I would choose a child sitting quietly and tell them to "find something oval" and when they did they could go line up for PE, Music, etc. Obviously mix up giving them shapes, colors or letters to find in the room you are in.
