I need a loan to pay for the rest of my tuition. I do not have a co-signer because my parents have bad credit. I have already applied for the loan now I need to sign it and send them info about employment and proof of enrollement. I am not going to do all that if you have to be employed because i dont have a job. I have heard bad things about the sallie mae loan but at this point I am desperate so if someone has some better options that will fit with my situation I would appreciate that as well (I have already filled out the FAFSA).

No you don't. There are different types. I think the Signature Student loan is the one you should consider. But there are other companies who are willing to make offers similar and sometimes even better than Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae just has a popular name.

Being a student myself, you do not have to be employed to apply for a Sallie Mae Loan. I do know that they are strict on who they lend money to. The denied me but JP Morgan Chase approved me.

I don't know about the employment part (I was employed when I got my loans) but I can tell you if you are unemployed, you will need a cosigner. Also, I have my student loans through them, and thus far have had a few problems (just payments being applied to the wrong loans) but they were easily fixed. Good Luck!

Sallie Mae once cared about students, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I would steer clear of Sallie Mae or any of its affiliates. Sure, you'll find a large number of borrowers that are perfectly happy with Sallie Mae. You'll also find an alarmingly large number of borrowers, including myself, that have been screwed by Sallie Mae. It is simply NOT worth the gamble to find out which group you'll be part of. There are many borrowers out there who haven't even realized they have been taken advantage of yet.
