Upgrading AMD Athlon X2 3800+ to 6000+? Well, i'm wanting to upgrade to Windows Vista soon, and i'm wondering if i can upgrade my processor... My comp. is a Compaq SR2038X--and i'm 99% sure it's got an AM2 socket(compatible with most if not all X2 processors...?). I've heard some poeple w/ 939 sockets not being able to upgrade that much. And below is a page to HP/Compaq's page for my comp.
I just want my computer to be a bit faster, and i'm only running XP MCE, so i'm guessing Vista may require more...? I guess i'm really asking if the jump from a dual core 3800+ to 6000+ is worth it. I'm also planning to upgrade to a better video card than the 6150 LE(integrated), and maybe max out to the 4GB RAM(2 x 512MB = 1GB currently)-or maybe 2GB for now.
I'm not a PC gamer(i've got 360 for that), but i want to be able to run Vista [Home Prem.] w/o too many problems.
-New processor
-Video Card(any suggestions?)
-2GB RAM
