...this Please help me?!?!?!? It's a older laptop but a very nice one, they had it wiped clean from the geek squad at best buys, there is a Linksys wireless_g 2.4 GHz notebook adapter card with it. But how do you connect to the Internet? What am I missing? Please can anyone give me just a clue as to what I need to do to connect.
I have a wireless router hooked up in my home already but would like to learn how to access the Linksys wireless-G card that came with the laptop. I know the laptop works well b/c it was in use just two weeks ago, before the lady that gave it to me decided to get a new one. I have a disk labeled drivers and updates for Sony pcg.9B3L, I have know Idea WHAT THIS MEANS. Please can some one help me get this thing up and on the Internet?

First you have to put the card in the computer and turn it on. I am assuming it has windows xp? The card should be recognized right away. If it does not, go to start>my network places and on the left side of the tool bar is a link for setting up a home network. Get some help with someone that knows a little of what they are doing.

If you have Windows XP on the laptop, you should be able to just plug in the card and go. If not, then insert the drivers/updates disk and run the setup.exe file on it.

Since you have a wireless router hooked up in your home, I'm going to assume you have an active Internet connection.

The next question is to make sure the wireless card in the laptop is the same standard as the wireless router.

Is the laptop showing the wireless card? If not you may need to install drivers.

If the laptop was wiped clean by reinstalling windows, it's possible Windows Firewall on the laptop is preventing it from connecting to the internet.

Beyond that I can't help because I just don't know enough about wireless networking.
