...account, for depositing wages? My friend needs a basic bank account so his pension / wages can be paid into it. he has a certificate of discharge from his bankruptcy. I don't want him to go to loads of banks only to be refused, and someone told me some banks are more sympathetic than others. Thanks for any help. Jan x

Barclays are the most sympathetic for people who have been bankrupt.

Hi with a discharged bankrupcy he can legally get an account with any bank but they will not offer credit facilities until he has had his account for a while. HSBC has a basic account with an ATM cardHalifax has a basic account called STEP this is especailly for bad credit your get an electron card and a cheque book after 6 months It may be worth while applying online halifax is www.halifax.co.uk/online
