I bought my house told...? ...the person that was bidding against me how much I could bid up to? First of all, I live in a town of about 600 people...everyone knows eachother. I got approved for a loan from our local bank, which, by the way, the person that handles the loans is also friends with the auctioneer. I planned on bidding up to $50,000, and the bank person knew that. The day of the auction, I had the bid at $23,000 because the person bidding against me dropped out of the bidding. The person that was bidding against me was also friends with the auctioneer. They called a break. Then the auctioneer had the person that had been bidding against me follow him inside the house. I saw him do this. They came out a few minutes later. The auctioneer and the person bidding against me, who had just minutes later dropped from the bidding, started bidding again...and I was damn determined to get this house so I stayed in. The bid was $50,000 when they stopped bidding finally. COINCIDENCE?

I would be less concerned about a issue with the prices and ask yourself this, are you happy with the price you paid? If so, fine, you "might" have gotten a better deal but you still got your home for a price you could afford and a price you were willing to spend.

Don't focus on a potential wrong or you will ruin the house for yourself, focus on your new pride and joy!

Unless you heard it, how could you prove it? I would let it go, and move in and enjoy it. If you got it at an auction, you hopefully got a really good deal. And just think... some people pay $50K for a car... so just think of how much better a home is! Enjoy!!
