Do the police force in the Uk have to pay council tax?

Someone told me that they don't have to pay council tax, and that their income tax is also in a lower bracket than it would be for a regular office worker for instance.

They have to pay the same taxes as everyone else.

I am a Civil Servant though not in the police force but I cannot see how a reduction in tax for the police could be justified or permitted. Surely this is just anti-establishment propaganda aimed at turning people against the police?
