...run out? My doctor could not release me before being terminated. He will hopefully release me in a few months.

Likely not. In order to draw unemployment, you have to be able to work. You aren't.

You were terminated with cause - for not being able to work.

It depends on your state. You need to check your government website to see if you qualify. Being terminated while under a doctor's care usually does qualify you. I don't know how long you have worked there, etc., so there may be circumstances in which you do not qualify. Do a search for your state unemployment compensation. You can find all the answers you need there.

You might as well apply for it - whether or not you get it depends on a lot of factors, including the laws in your state.

In most places, you aren't eligible for unemployment if you aren't available for work, and if your doctor hasn't released you for work, then you aren't available. So don't be real surprised if unemployment comp is denied - it probably will be - but you don't have anything to lose by applying.

To be eligible for unemployment you must be physically able to work. If you cannot work due to illness, injury or other restriction, you do not qualify.
