Proactiv is something that you should discuss with a dermatologist first because.... my friend uses it and it improved her skin soo much she never has blemishes or anything but her acne was caused by oily skin....my brother (whos 22) used it and it didnt work on him at all because his acne was cystemic (or systemic or however its spelt) so he had to go on accutane, so i think that you should determine what your specific needs are first before trying a product

I hated proactiv.........honestly it caused me more breakouts...........ridiculous.......don't waste your money.......i spend hundreds of dollars on stuff for my face and the only thing that really has worked for me is the natural stuff.........like peach scrub.........i don't remember the brand but it works really well.........they have it at walmart for like 3.00

Well, for me it seemed like the spots cleared up quicker than when I used other stuff. And it cut the new breakouts down by a significant amount, so the old spots weren't replaced with new ones. The spots should fade significantly in like 3 weeks or so, or at least that's what happened for me.Retin-A really burned my skin and made it peel an awful lot, so I wouldn't reccomend it. Proactiv's worked best for me so far, and I've tried a LOT of stuff over the past 11 years. But I feel your pain! Unfortunately, the only way I can think of to get rid of the spots instantaneously (or at least within a few weeks) is to try laser surgery...and even that might not be a definite. Good luck!

It didn't work for me, but I'm 13 so I don't know if age can make a difference. No face wash will clear those scars from old acne. My mom has this stuff called "Spot Treatment" and I don't know if it worked for her because she wears makeup all the time so I rarely see what's underneath. You can find it at rite aid or walgreens, those type of stores. I just don't think proactive is worth the money. Try the old "wet your face with hot water to open your pores, cleanse with a gentle scrub to clean out your pores, and rinse with cold water to snap them shut". That works pretty good. Lancome, Clinique, those are really good places to get skincare from. They are a bit pricey, though. Good Luck!

okay. im a 19 year old african american male (mixed with japanese and white also, but i have a medium color complexion). I first got acne at around 16, it really started to get bad at 17. That is around the time that I tried proactiv and i was happy with the way it left my skin feeling, but in all honesty, it didnt clear up my acne. It just made the texture a little bit smoother. After trying just about everything from salacylic acid to benzoyl peroxide, i got an appointment to see a dermatologist. He prescribed accutane for me. That was the best thing I could have ever done! Everyone talks smack about the drug, but if you can handle breaking out for the first month or so of taking it, you'll understand why I love it so much. This is my 2nd month on it and I am finally starting to clear up, but it's a MAJOR SUDDEN difference. Everyday for the last 2 weeks I have seen dramatic improvement. My skin is about 80% better as far as the acne goes and as far as the scars and dark marks go, it is about 70% better. I'm thinking by next month it will be 100% clear. Acne is a problem that forms under the skin. topical treatments such as proactiv only work on the surface. Accutane permanently clears most people and about 90% of the people who use it result in completely clear skin. Don't wait any longer, I wish I would have started accutane earlier. Good luck with everything!

I am very dark skin. PROACTIV has worked wonders for me. The only thing was, the instructions says to use twice a day. Morning and evening. I actually use it 3 times a day. Morning, afternoon and night. My marks have lightened w/ PROACTIV but what is getting rid of them is a unknown product calle DERMALINE. My mom used it as a night cream when I was a teen and it's awesome. BUT you should only wear DERMALINE in doors b/c the sunlight my cause discoloration. NEUTRIGENA SKIN CLEARING MAKEUP has been helping also. I have used PROACTIV MAKEUP but the skin tone only matched my summer color not my winter. That's when I use NEUTROGENA. GOOD LUCK!!!
