are the more expensive brands of beauty products worth it?

are the brands of makeup, shampoo, etc., that you can find at department stores (ie m.a.c) and such, better than the brands you can find at, say, wal-mart? (ie herbal essences)

Yes, they're worth it. I order my face care products off of Sephora. I am also a Bare Essentuals user. That make up is pure and free of oils. My skin is beautiful now and I love it! I get highlights in my hair a lot, so I have always used salon shampoos. I buy cheap shampoo just to keep for when I shower at night before bed.

not always.famous companies throw out lots of money to advertise their products so a lot of the money you spend is used for promotion instead of actually making the makeup better.however usually i find that more expensive products are made of better stuff. this doesn't mean that it will look better.things like skincare and anti-aging, eyecreams should be high quality because you reall need the stuff to be good.however things like makeup and more 'temprorary' products you can buy cheaper

Most of the expensive shampoo and makeup is better, but you will find yourself buying a lipgloss for $14 that is crap when you could have gotten it for $1, mac is very good makeup worth the price. My bestfriend is a hairstylist and she says the cheap brands have too many chemical ingredients that ruin your hair.
