How To Make Henna Tattoos 1. Sift out enough henna to make about 1-1/4 cups dry, sifted henna powder. 2. Take 2 packets of instant coffee singles (the ones that look like tea bags) and boil them in about 1 1/2 cups of water until it boils down to about 3/4 of a cup of dark liquid. 3. If it is too runny, add a little more sifted henna powder. If it's too thick, add a little more coffee, or plain water. Allow the mixture to settle and cool for about 2 hours before using. Note: This recipe does make a large amount of henna paste. If you plan on doing only a small amount of work, feel free to halve or quarter the measurements listed above. Any paste that is not used can be stored, tightly sealed, in the refrigerator for 2 weeks or in the freezer for 2 months. Take ashes and ink from a ballpoint pin and mix them together. Then, sterilize a needle and dip it in the mixture and quickly pierce your skin, remembering to re-ink. It may help to draw a design on your skin before getting started. I've never done this, but I've seen the results. On second thought, just skip the doctor's office bill and go straight to a licensed professional.

Please DON'T do your own tattoo...it's an insult to all of the highly skilled tat artists out there who do what they do because they love it...not because they are bored and have nothing else to do. If you want to experiment, try henna or temporary tattoos. There are also special inks that are meant to be used to draw on the skin so you can create your own art without piercing your skin...you can get them at most craft or scrapbooking stores.
