Yes amazon is safer than eBay. eBay is a site where normal everyday Joe's can sell stuff to people. In order for it to work, you have to hope that the seller is honest.

Amazon is a company that sells products. Therefore if there is a problem you have someone to blame. The thing to watch out for is the individual sellers within amazon (the link that says new and used for $$$$). I believe even these users fall under the Amazon guarantee though.

Another thing to look into is PayPal. They have their own protection plan to help protect the buyers. I believe that when you pay someone, PayPal holds the money for a certain time period before the seller can have access to it. This gives the buyer time to complain if needed.
