Alfredo sauce is not Italian. I just got back from italy 2 days ago. I did not get to see all regions but I doubt you'd find it anywhere. You can go for mushroom sauce, truffle sauce, Carbonara, or some places offer just butter and herbs. Or you can go for my personal favorite- Tortellini con panna e proscuitto- cream sauce with ham. Not all places have it and a lot of places that offer it don't have it all the time but when they do, it's GREAT. So much lighter than Alfredo. If you get the chance, visit Pastarito. It's a chain restaurant out there and they have a list of sauces that's seprated into red and white. And they even have a green section- Pesto's also a great choice. Hope this helps.
