The prevailing sense is that single mothers get welfare and the rest of us are sick of paying their way. My father-in-law goes off on this topic all the time. My daughters are resentful of their friends who get government benefits. It is a burden.
It is also part of the cultural wisdom that children raised without fathers are more likely, statistically, to be criminals.
I am just repeating what I hear. I, myself, wouldn't have been able to raise my kids without their father.
