mild soap is actually good for the leaves and stuff, and kills the bugs that live on your plants. Dr. Bonner's Castille soap cut with water in a spray bottle gets rid of aphids and spidermites... so soap is fine, unless you're using dish soap or something real perfumey, that would hurt it just because it would change the pH levels of the soil, and the additional ingredients would hurt. But glycerine soap or some other mild soap is fine, if you're using it for bugs.
