i gather that this is a question regarding morality. there are two dominant worldviews with respect to this human concept of right and wrong.these are the theistic and atheistic positions. since you begged off to hear the theistic arguments i'll just share with you what i know about the other view- the atheistic. there are a number of versions of this but i think the one that really is worth contemplating on, is the argument that morality is the product of evolving human consciousness with respect to his surroundings and experience. example, our ancestral prehistoric females learned that less violent males make for better partners and fathers to their young. more agressive males were marked as more likely to commit rape, dominate the females, and hinder the development of the young ones. hence, this selection process passed on less violent genes to their predecessors-us and thus giving us the "morality" to disdain violence, rape, and anything bloody. but the agressive gene hasnt been totally eliminated. that's why we still have some of the ills and mistakes of the primitive angry caveman. that's the force that drives a man in doing good or bad as far as these atheists are concerned.
