I live an hour's drive from our hospital and to be honest, it's not that big a deal. I really don't think you need to schedule a delivery unless your practitioner feels the need. Most women don't have labors that are so short they can't make it to the hospital. You could ask for an induction but the rule of thumb is not to do one unless medically necessary until you're 42 weeks. Just let nature take it's course and have faith that you'll get there just fine. I did with my two. You could just talk to the doctor about going in when your contractions are further apart just to ease your mind. Even though I had an hour's drive, my Midwife told me to wait until they were about 3 min. apart. I still didn't deliver until 2 hours after we got there, so plenty of time! Best of luck and I'm sure you'll be fine!
