For a little baby you'll want stage 1 nipples - want to make sure it's a slow flow. For those you keep the rubber bottom in, it's made to help keep air out while drinking so you're baby will be less gassy. From experience they don't work and my daughter hated them, a friend of mine said the same thing about them when she tried them with her daughter. They're too much money to not work - my daughter ended up liking the NUK bottles, cost about the same as the Ventaire but they seem to work pretty good.
