I myself am considering removing all meat and dairy products from my diet, mainly because I have noticed that when I eat a vegetarian, vegan diet I feel so much better. I have noticed that I have many stomach problems, and feel sluggish when I include meat in my diet. As for the way meat is produced in the UK, I have seen some very good programmes showing how chickens and cows are treated, and the antibiotics, and hormones they are fed, and I really think that it contributes a lot to stomach complaints in people. Also, the way the cows are forced to produce much more milk than they would normally just seems really cruel to me, so if I do buy meat and animal products, I do tend to buy free range and organic.
