Your first scan (the dating scan) can be anywhere between 10 and 14 weeks in the UK (mine was at 14 weeks 3 days, although once they'd had it, they recalculated my due date and said I was actually 15 weeks 3 days!). Once you go to our GP, you'll need to provide them with a urine sample to test - not because they don't believe you're pregnant, but because they have to have something they can use to kick start their own records. Once they confirm your pregnancy, they will then refer you to a midwife team who will get in contact to let yo know when your booking appointment it. THis normally happens when you're 8 - 12 weeks along, and it is only at this appointment that they'll give you your first scan date, as well as take a family history, urine sample, blood, etc.
